Getting to Los Alcázares
Two airports within an hour, two ferry routes from the UK, one car-friendly motorway. Plus everything you need to know about driving in Spain.
Los Alcázares has two airports: Corvera (RMU, 40 min by car) and Alicante (ALC, 60 min on the AP-7 motorway, toll-free). Corvera has direct flights from the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and Norway; Alicante has a wider network. A hire car is essential, public transport between villages is limited.

Corvera Airport (RMU) - Murcia
40 minutes by car. Direct flights from the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and Norway. Car hire on-site is often cheaper than Alicante.
Alicante Airport (ALC)
60 minutes by car on the AP-7 motorway. Much wider flight network and larger car-hire fleet.
Driving from the UK / NL / DE
Two-day drive via the Portsmouth-Bilbao ferry, then 9-10 hours south. From the Netherlands or Germany allow three days via France.
Car hire
Strongly recommended. Public transport between villages is limited and the best experiences need a car.
Driving in Spain - quick tips
- Drink-drive limit: 0.5g/L (lower for new drivers)
- AP-7 motorway is toll-free south of Alicante
- Speed cameras are signposted but frequent
- Carry passport and driving licence in the car
- From the UK: bring insurance documents and headlight stickers
